Editing Tutorial:

First, Thank You for being apart of our community and showing interest in adding content. Without your help this website will NEVER thrive!

Things you should know:
  1. In order to be able to use all functions of this site, you should use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Safari among others will work, but may leave out some options!
  2. You must be logged in to add content. If you are not currently a member, sign up! You can join using either your pre-existing Facebook login (using the Facebook Connect button) or by simply hitting the sign up link (located on the left hand side) If you are having trouble please seek assistance through the questions, comments, suggestions links on the bottom of the left side tool bar.
  3. You will be tagged as the last person to edit a category. This allows us to know who is adding what, and allows others to see that you are an active member of our community!

Before You Add:
  1. Obviously selecting the right category is very important, if you have any doubt, place it where you think it belongs but it can be changed later on.
  2. Is it appropriate? This is obviously a public forum and can be seen by anyone looking at the MyColorWar website, including parents, campers and camp staff.
  3. If you are adding a picture, please make sure that the person is over 18 at this time. Also consider the feelings of others and whether or not they would want their picture placed here.
Actually adding info to the MyColorWar:
A. Adding to a page that already exists:
  1. On every page there is an EASY EDIT Button. This will allow you to add all types of material. This includes text, pictures, links and tables.
  2. Clicking the EASY EDIT Button will bring up the Easy Edit Tool Bar that is set up similar to the typical Microsoft Word tools.
  3. Using your cursor and mouse pick the location where you want the information to be seen. Add the text appropriate for what you are doing.
  4. In the case of pictures we ask that you add them beneath any others that are already there. Last in last to be seen!
  5. Adding pictures can be a bit difficult at first. The good news is after the first time it should be painless!
1. Place the cursor where you want the picture to go.
2. Click the picture icon located on the Toolbar.
3. Assuming the picture is on your computer locate it with the new open dialog box, and Add!
4. You can choose to name the photo at this time as well.
5. After this you should use the + and – symbols to format it so that if fits with the margins. Click done! Congrats you've added a picture!
6. The only thing left to do is place a caption! Using your arrow keys or cursor go to the right side of the picture and hit enter. Add your Caption.
7. Hit save on the Easy Edit Toolbar! Congrats you've added a picture!

B. Adding a page that doesn't exist:
  1. Choose the area where you believe it should be added.
  2. My Example will be Circus day. You've got great pictures of monkeys and that story about the six foot girl who fit in a three foot cube, you want to add. This would probably best be suited under Special Events. Navigate to the Special Events Category. Click the Main Category Special Events.
  3. At the top there is a link “To add a new page to the Special Events section, click here. A dialog box will appear. Enter the Page name “Circus Day!”.WARNING: The website will not allow punctuation in the title.Leave your ' . " : & at home please!
  4. You also need to add Keyword Tags. Pick ones that already exist, they can be located in the right side of the website. A list of big ones are camp, staff, director, summer camp, sleepaway camp, resident camp, day camp, parents, campers. Pick the ones that best describe your page. These will allow others to navigate to these pages through use of the Tag Cloud.
  5. Add Page! There you go, a blank state for you to begin!

C. New Categories
If you believe that you have something that is beyond a current category, please use the Questions, Comments, Suggestions link located on the left toolbar to suggest a new category! Or you can email brian@mycolorwar.com
